Byrne Ó Cléirigh is currently coordinating the deployment of Electric Vehicles on the Aran Islands.  The vehicles will be recharged, at night time, using electricity from the islands’ wind farm.  The objective of this pilot programme, which is funded by SEI, is to research the potential for renewable energy in transport.  The Irish Government’s strategy is to have 10% of the road transport fleet powered by electricity by 2020.  Progress on this programme will be reported in future newsletters.
