Byrne Ó Cléirigh were appointed by the Sustainable Energy
Authority of Ireland (SEAI) to work with the SEAI on the
development of a new Sustainable Energy Services
Department.
The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland pursues, on behalf of
Government, the policies laid out in the 1999
Green Paper on Sustainable Energy, the National
Development Plan (2000 - 2006) and the National
Climate Change Strategy to meet Ireland's
commitment to limit greenhouse gas emissions to a
13% increase by 2008 - 2012.
Byrne Ó Cléirigh proactively partnered with the Sustainable
Energy Authority of Ireland to develop and implement a
work programme for the period 2001 - 2006 to
increase the penetration of renewable and CHP
energy in Ireland and to work towards the targets
set out in Irish Government policy (+ 500 MW
Renewable Energy capacity by 2006 and + 250 MWE CHP
capacity by 2010).
The elements under development in the work
programme are / will be funded with resources
allocated in the National Development Plan. The
programme encompasses:

Renewable Energy -
including onshore & offshore wind, biomass, wave and solar
(thermal, passive and photovoltaic); |

Combined Heat & Power -
fossil & alteranative energy sources; |
 |
District Heating;
Electrical infrastructure for renewable energy developments; |

Energy efficient transport
technologies, systems, management and usage patterns. |

Ó Cléirigh have also conducted a wide range of other projects for
the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, including a Cost Benefit Analysis of Government
Support Options for Offshore Wind Energy. |
