Byrne Ó Cléirigh prepared the first Safety Case
in Ireland under the Seveso I Directive for the
Flogas LPG Storage Facility at Tivoli in Cork.
Since then, we have prepared several other Seveso
Safety Cases for the LPG, Oil Storage, Chemical Storage, Oil
Refining, Non-Ferrous Metals, Pharmaceutical and Waste
Management
sectors under both the original Directive and the
revised Seveso II Directive.
The Seveso II Directive (96/82/EC) is aimed at
the prevention of major accidents involving
dangerous substances and the limitation of their
consequences for man and the environment. There
are a number of requirements placed on operators
with inventories of dangerous substances higher
than the threshold quantities that are specified
in the Directive. For top tier (second level)
sites, these include the implementation of a
Safety Management System and Emergency Response
Plans and the preparation of a Safety Report for
submission to the competent authority.
We provide the following high quality services to
our Clients to assist
them in achieving and maintaining full compliance
with the Seveso II Directive:
 |
Development
and implementation of a Major Accident Prevention Policy and Safety
Management System; |
 |
Hazard
Identification and Risk Assessment, including Quantitative Risk
Assessment; |
 |
Consequence
Modelling, including Dispersion Modelling for Major Accident
Scenarios; |
 |
Emergency
Response Planning; |
 |
Preparation
of the Safety Report; |
 | Consultation
with the Central and Local Competent Authorities; |
 | Advice
on Land Use Planning. |
